Modeling different types of minor damage to the player tank has been on my to-do list for quite some time, and I am finally adding it to Alpha 9.2. Minor damage can result from small-arms attacks on your tank, from breakdown of a weapon, or as part of resolving a penetrating hit on your tank. Most damage types can be repaired, either during a battle encounter or immediately following, but some types of damage (main gun broken, for example) remain with you for the remainder of the day.
This will introduce a fair amount of challenge, but it’s not too different from what historical armoured commanders had to face, as they didn’t always have the option of heading back to HQ if they could keep on fighting.
Active damage will be displayed in the tank console, and the Loader will have the option of attempting to repair malfunctioning systems during the Action phase. A number of repair-related skills will also be added to 9.2 to help commanders keep their tanks running.
